Sailor Moon Cafe and 25th Anniversary events

The hit anime Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon marks its 25th anniversary with various treats for dedicated fans. An anime sequel, a live musical adaptation, feature café, a space museum, an upcoming classical concert album, and a permanent goods store in Tokyo. Not to mention the various collaborations with different brands like GU and Mellsavon.

When I was a kid, I vividly remember how I loved the anime. I ate my dinner in front of the television sitting on a pink chair while watching Sailor Moon. It was dubbed in Filipino, and as a kid, you’ll surely mimic the hand gestures the sailor senshis make when they transform. When I grew up, I watched the anime movies in Japanese with subtitles and continued to love the anime until now.

Now that I’m in Japan and with Sailor Moon marking its 25th anniversary, I told myself that I must celebrate and visit the Sailor Moon Café.

The Sailor Moon Café was scheduled to run in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya from late September to early November and an upcoming one in Fukuoka maybe in 2018. At first, my original plan is to just make a single reservation for the Osaka Sailor Moon Café but luckily one of my classmates was also a Sailor Moon fan, and we went together.

Online reservation is needed, and I was glad that I came early because the queuing started 30 minutes before the schedule. The café can only accommodate a certain number of diners with some fans even brought their family to dine and celebrate.

The food was the sweetest and cutest ever. The menu is themed with each of the main character’s face or symbols. I ordered Tuxedo mask’s jet black curry ~ with roses ~ and Chibi Moon Ichigo Milk Smoothie which made me just stare at it for a couple of minutes deciding how or whether I should really eat it.

Tuxedo Mask’s curry was flavorful with a hint of spice that hits you (in the heart) just right while the Chibi Moon Ichigo Milk Smoothie has a thick milk foam on top, so you have to mix it with the strawberry smoothie ruining Chibi Moon’s cute face. While eating you could enjoy reminiscing your childhood because the original soundtrack is playing as well as the digest clip of the Sailor Moon Musical.

After dining, the café also has some official goods for sale or have your picture taken with Chibiusa and Usagi.

I really enjoyed the Sailor Moon café experience because it made me relive my childhood memories and fascination with the anime. Now, I look forward to the Sailor Moon space museum that is planned to open on December 15 in Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan.
